Ducks G Frederik Andersen placed on IR John Gibson recalled

The will be without starting goaltender until at least Monday after he was placed on injured reserve with an upper-body injury Tuesday morning. The goaltender suffered a blow to the head when he was struck by the cro sbar of his net as it fell on top of him Sunday while playing the Tampa Bay Lightning.Andersen Injury Top prospect John Gibson has been recalled to take Andersens place in the lineup and will likely spend some time backing up .In his second full season with Anaheim and first Zach Collins Jersey as the primary starter, Andersen has done quite well for himself. Hes 29-8-5, with a .916 save percentage, 2.37 goals-against average and three shutouts this season. The Ducks have a pretty healthy cushion in the Pacific Division, so they probably wont worry too much about their place in the standings, but they should be concerned about Andersens health at this point. He took a pretty good knock from the cro sbar, and the fact that hes on IR suggests that his being held out is a little more than precautionary.Bryzgalov and Gibson should be able to see the Ducks through if this is a temporary situation. However, since his return, Bryzgalov has struggled in limited action. Hes allowed 20 goals over 304 minutes, making for an unsightly .859 save percentage and 1-3-1 record.Gibson, meanwhile, was sent to the American Hockey League after competing for and losing the starting job to Andersen earlier this season. An injury didnt help matters for Gibson as he appeared in just four games before being sent down. He posted a 2-2-0 record, .927 save percentage and 2.28 goals-against average while with the Ducks. Additionally, Gibson was solid in limited action last season. He went 3-0-0 in three starts, while posting a .954 save percentage and 1.33 goals-against average. This might be a good opportunity to give Gibson some more NHL reps in case they need him late in the season like they did last year when he was pre sed into duty in Harry Gilles III Jersey the Stanley Cup Playoffs. The 21-year-old has been strong in 11 appearances for the Norfolk Admirals with a .935 save percentage and 2.07 goals-against average in the AHL this season. The Ducks are lucky to have two younger netminders like Andersen and Gibson at their disposal, but with the time Andersen has put in this season developing into a No. 1, theyll obviously hope he returns to action quickly and at 100 percent for the home stretch.
